David Pastrnak is a 23-year-old NHL winger on the Boston Bruins. He is an all-star and he shows that with his skill on the ice.
David Pastrnak has had over 70 points his last three years in the NHL (all with the Bruins), and this is only his 6th year playing. He has already broken his record for how many goals and points he’s had in a season this year with 42 goals and 82 points in 60 game. Pastrnak is tied with Leaf’s center Auston Matthews for most goals in the league.
Pastrnak is undoubtedly one of the top players in the NHL today. He has appeared in the last two all-star games, winning the accuracy shooting competition in 2019, and being awarded all-star MVP for the Atlantic division this year. In the 2017-18 season Pastrnak made an outstanding record passing the legend Wayne Gretzky, being the youngest player in NHL history to record six points in a single playoff game (21 years and 324 days old). He also set many franchise records a few of them being, the youngest player to score 30 goals in a season, the youngest player to score a penalty shot goal, and being the first and only player to score all four of the teams goals in a single game. One of his biggest achievements is being only the fourth player in NHL history to score twelve or more goals in the first two months of the season, joining the legends, Mario Lemieux, Wayne Gretzky, and Mike Bossy.
One reason Pastrnak is so dominant is because he is unpredictable. Stephen Whyno reported that Pastrnak “Is like a dazzling young magician” you don’t know what to expect until it happens. Pastrnak quoted that “if you don’t know what you’ll do, they’re not going to know what to do. The reason he is so unpredictable is because he has such a quick release when he shoots, the goalies and defensemen can’t tell if he’s passing or shooting.
Throughout Pastrnak’s career his shooting percentage has gone up twelve percent (22.5%) from his rookie year, and this number is still climbing. His lethal shot has helped make his way to the top of the goal scoring list this season and has gotten praise from some of the top players to ever hit the ice including Bruins legend Phil Esposito. Some even say he has a better shot than Washington’s Captain Alex Ovechkin.
Pastrnaks numbers have been outstanding this season, his points per game average is above one at 1.37%, and in his last five games he has 7 points. Pastrnak gets a lot of his points due to his exceptional line mates (Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand). Pastrnak has 41 assists this season a lot of them being because of his partners always being In the right spot when he makes a pass.
Many believe David Pastrnak will set many more franchise records due to how many he has already broken, and he is only 23 years of age. David is easily a top ten forward, and I think he knows that. His strength, speed, and smarts he has of the has helped him surpass his previous point records and he still has 21 games left this season. Pastrnak is an all-star and it is obvious that he will continue to show us this and improve his game, I believing proving that he will be a future hall of famer.
